Job Description

An educational institution in Brockton, MA is seeking a skilled professional to provide specialized support for students with visual impairments in grades K-12. This contract position focuses on delivering both direct and indirect services, including assessment, consultation, and targeted instruction.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Provide direct teacher of visually impaired (TVI) services approximately half a day per week.
  • Deliver orientation and mobility (O&M) instruction at a comparable service level.
  • Conduct assessments to identify student needs related to visual impairments.
  • Collaborate with educational teams to design and implement individualized education plans (IEPs).
  • Offer ongoing consultation to staff, students, and families to support learning and independence.
  • Maintain detailed records and progress reports for assigned caseload.

Qualifications and Experience:

  • Certification as a Teacher of the Visually Impaired (TVI).
  • Training and experience in Orientation and Mobility Specialist (OMS) services.
  • Proven ability to work effectively with K-12 students in an educational setting.
  • Strong assessment, consultation, and instructional skills tailored to students with visual impairments.
  • Excellent communication and collaboration abilities.

Location: Brockton, Massachusetts (K-12 school setting)
Schedule: Approximately one hour per week of direct service, plus additional indirect time.
Duration: Contract position for current school year (CSY).
