Job Description

A position is available for a dedicated and skilled Teacher specializing in Deaf/Hard of Hearing students. This role is focused on providing high-quality educational experiences for K-12 students in a supportive learning environment.

Qualifications:

  • Valid Nebraska TDHH License
  • Experience working with students who are Deaf or Hard of Hearing
  • Strong communication skills, both verbal and non-verbal
  • Ability to develop individualized education plans (IEPs) tailored to student needs
  • Proficient in using assistive technologies and teaching strategies for Deaf education
  • Patience and compassion in addressing diverse learning styles and needs

Location:

  • Columbus, NE (Itinerant position serving Richland and surrounding areas)

Responsibilities:

  • Teach academic subjects through an adapted curriculum designed for Deaf/Hard of Hearing students
  • Create and implement IEPs, regularly assessing and adjusting as needed
  • Foster a positive and inclusive classroom atmosphere
  • Collaborate with families, school staff, and specialist organizations to support student goals
  • Maintain accurate records of student progress and IEP compliance
  • Engage in professional development opportunities to enhance instructional strategies
  • Provide direct instruction and resources to facilitate effective learning experiences
  • Ensure a safe and accessible learning environment for all students
