This full-time, contract position offers a unique opportunity to provide specialized instruction and support to students who are deaf or hard of hearing, ranging from birth to age 22. Situated in a K-12 onsite setting, the role requires delivering tailored educational services to approximately 36 students within a low-incidence population. The position spans from ASAP through June 9, 2026, serving as a critical resource in facilitating communication access and educational achievement aligned with IEP goals.
Key Responsibilities:
- Deliver specialized instruction to students who are deaf or hard of hearing, addressing individual learning needs across birth-to-22 age range
- Collaborate closely with families, educators, and related service providers to support communication and educational success
- Utilize American Sign Language (ASL) or other appropriate communication methods to enhance accessibility and engagement
- Monitor student progress and contribute to the development and implementation of individualized education plans (IEPs)
- Maintain documentation and communicate regularly regarding student outcomes and needs
Qualifications:
- Bachelors degree in Special Education or Education
- Valid Minnesota teaching license
- Certification in Deaf and Hard of Hearing (DHH) instruction
- Proficiency in American Sign Language (ASL) or other relevant communication methods
- Experience working with children and young adults in a low-incidence population preferred
