Job Description

An opportunity is available for a Teacher specializing in Deaf and Hard of Hearing students within a K-12 school setting in Olympia, WA. This contract position spans the current school year (CSY) and focuses on delivering specialized instruction and support to students with hearing impairments.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Develop and implement individualized educational plans tailored to Deaf and Hard of Hearing students.
  • Provide classroom instruction in alignment with state and federal guidelines.
  • Utilize specialized communication methods and assistive technologies to enhance student learning.
  • Collaborate with classroom teachers, specialists, and families to support student progress.
  • Monitor and assess student performance and adjust teaching strategies accordingly.
  • Participate in professional development and staff meetings as required.

Qualifications:

  • Certification or licensure as a Teacher of the Deaf and Hard of Hearing.
  • Experience working with K-12 students who are Deaf or Hard of Hearing.
  • Strong knowledge of auditory, speech, and language development strategies.
  • Proficiency in American Sign Language (ASL) or other communication methods preferred.
  • Ability to work collaboratively in a team-oriented environment.
  • Commitment to student-centered instruction and inclusion.
