This contract role is an excellent opportunity for an educator with specialized expertise to enrich the classroom experience for students who are deaf or hard of hearing, collaborating closely with families and multidisciplinary teams.
Key Qualifications:
- Valid teaching certification as a Teacher of the Deaf/Hard of Hearing
- Experience supporting students who are deaf or hard of hearing in K-12 settings
- Proficiency in adapting curriculum and instruction to meet individual student needs
- Confidence employing visual communication techniques (such as ASL, cued speech, or signed English)
- Ability to develop and implement Individualized Education Programs (IEPs)
- Strong communication and collaboration skills with students, parents, and staff
- Dedication to fostering an accessible, inclusive classroom environment
Primary Responsibilities:
- Deliver direct and consultative services to students with hearing impairments across multiple schools and varying age groups
- Provide instruction tailored to each students learning style and communication needs
- Work collaboratively with general education teachers, speech-language pathologists, and related service providers
- Attend and participate in IEP meetings; maintain detailed records of student progress
- Guide and support families and staff regarding assistive technology, classroom strategies, and hearing loss awareness
- Adapt instructional materials and classroom settings to optimize accessibility and student engagement
