Job Description

A K-12 educational institution in Littleton, CO is seeking a qualified Teacher specializing in Deaf and Hard of Hearing students for a contract position covering the current school year (CSY). This role offers the opportunity to support and enrich the learning experiences of students with hearing impairments through specialized instructional strategies and individualized support.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Develop and deliver specialized curriculum tailored to Deaf and Hard of Hearing students across K-12 grade levels.
  • Collaborate with general education teachers, audiologists, speech therapists, and families to create inclusive learning environments.
  • Assess student progress regularly and adjust instruction to meet individual needs.
  • Provide support with communication modalities such as American Sign Language, lip-reading, and assistive technologies.
  • Advocate for Deaf and Hard of Hearing students to ensure accommodations and accessibility.
  • Participate in IEP meetings and contribute to the development of individualized education plans.

Desired Qualifications and Experience:

  • Certification or licensure in Deaf Education or related field.
  • Experience teaching Deaf and Hard of Hearing students within a K-12 setting.
  • Proficiency in American Sign Language and understanding of hearing loss impacts on learning.
  • Strong communication and collaboration skills.
  • Ability to design differentiated lesson plans that accommodate diverse learning styles.
