Responsibilities:

  • Develop and implement instructional plans tailored to the diverse needs of students who are deaf or hard of hearing.
  • Collaborate with educational staff, families, and support services to create a comprehensive learning approach.
  • Utilize appropriate assistive technology and resources to enhance communication and learning.
  • Monitor and assess student progress, adjusting teaching strategies as needed.
  • Maintain accurate records of student performance and progress in line with assessment requirements.
  • Actively participate in professional development opportunities and staff meetings.

Qualifications:

  • Valid Illinois Teacher of the Deaf and Hard of Hearing (TDHH) license.
  • Professional Educator License (PEL) required.
  • Experience teaching middle school and high school students preferred.
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Ability to work collaboratively in a team-oriented environment.
  • Familiarity with assistive technology and various communication methods.
