Job Description

A K-12 educational institution in Derry, NH is seeking a dedicated Teacher of the Deaf / Hard of Hearing for the upcoming school year on a contract basis. This role focuses on providing specialized instruction and support to students who are deaf or hard of hearing, helping them achieve academic success and develop effective communication skills.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Develop and implement individualized education plans (IEPs) tailored to the unique needs of students with hearing loss.
  • Utilize a variety of instructional strategies and tools, including assistive technology, to enhance learning.
  • Collaborate with general education teachers, support staff, and families to ensure inclusive educational experiences.
  • Monitor student progress and adjust teaching methods accordingly.
  • Provide advocacy and support services to students and families regarding hearing loss and related challenges.
  • Maintain accurate records and comply with all state and federal regulations concerning special education services.

Desired Qualifications:

  • Valid teaching certification with endorsement in Deaf / Hard of Hearing education.
  • Experience teaching K-12 students who are deaf or hard of hearing.
  • Strong knowledge of audiology basics, speech and language development, and deaf culture.
  • Ability to work collaboratively in a multidisciplinary team environment.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
