Job Description

An opportunity exists for a dedicated professional to support students with hearing impairments in a K-12 educational setting. This contract position is based in Decatur, AL, and is designed for individuals who are passionate about providing tailored educational services to meet the diverse needs of their students.

Qualifications:

  • Current Alabama professional educator certificate.
  • Minimum bachelors degree in special education with Hearing Impaired (HI Certification) or Deaf/Hard of Hearing Education.
  • Recent documentation of sign language proficiency (SLPI); ASL proficiency is preferred.
  • Experience working with students aged 3-21, particularly in an itinerant role.

Location:
Decatur, AL

Responsibilities:

  • Provide direct and consultative special education services to students with hearing impairments.
  • Develop and implement individualized education plans (IEPs) in collaboration with other educators and specialists.
  • Assess student needs and progress, adapting teaching strategies to promote effective learning.
  • Collaborate with staff across multiple schools to ensure a coordinated approach to each student's education.
  • Maintain accurate documentation of services provided and student progress.
