Job Description

An opportunity is available for a full-time Teacher of the Deaf/Hard of Hearing in the Chattanooga area, serving K12 students across multiple schools. This contract position runs through the current school year, providing specialized educational support to children who are deaf or hard of hearing, with caseloads tailored according to each student's schedule.

The role requires an active Tennessee Department of Education certification as a Teacher of the Deaf/Hard of Hearing. Candidates must be prepared to work on-site, as remote or hybrid options are not available. Assignments will vary between schools within the district, and the teacher will follow students according to their individual timetables, ensuring continuity in service and support.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Deliver specialized instruction and support for students who are deaf or hard of hearing across grades K12
  • Collaborate with educational teams and families to develop and implement Individualized Education Programs (IEPs)
  • Monitor student progress and adjust teaching strategies to meet diverse learning needs
  • Participate in district meetings, professional development, and training as required

Qualifications:

  • Active Tennessee DOE certification for Teacher of the Deaf/Hard of Hearing
  • Experience working with K12 students in an educational setting
  • Strong communication and collaboration skills
  • Ability to manage a flexible caseload across multiple school locations

Work Details:

  • Full-time, approximately 3537.5 hours per week
  • Start date as soon as possible through May 21, 2026
  • On-site position within the Chattanooga school district area
