Job Description
A Special Education Teacher is needed to support elementary students in Willimantic, CT, under a contract spanning the current school year (CSY). This role requires a dedicated professional to deliver tailored instruction and support to students with special needs, fostering their academic growth and social development within an elementary school setting.
Key Responsibilities:
- Design and implement Individualized Education Programs (IEPs) based on student needs.
- Collaborate with general education teachers, parents, and support staff to create inclusive learning environments.
- Monitor and assess student progress, adjusting instructional strategies as necessary.
- Manage classroom behavior and promote a positive, supportive atmosphere.
- Maintain accurate records in compliance with state and federal guidelines.
Qualifications:
- Valid Connecticut Special Education Teacher License appropriate to the elementary grade level.
- Experience working with elementary-aged students with diverse special education needs.
- Strong understanding of special education laws, procedures, and best practices.
- Effective communication skills for interaction with students, families, and colleagues.
- Ability to work 37.5 hours per week, committed to the contract duration.
