This is an excellent opportunity for a Special Education Teacher with a passion for empowering students with mild intellectual disabilities. Youll focus on one school, working full-time during the school year in a supportive, collaborative setting near West Columbia, SC.
Key Qualifications:
- Active South Carolina Special Education (SPED) teaching license required
- Previous experience working with middle school students, especially those with mild intellectual disabilities
- Strong communication skills to collaborate with staff, families, and students
- Ability to create and implement IEPs and adapt instructional strategies to meet individual needs
- Professionalism and adaptability within a diverse, inclusive school community
What You'll Do:
- Provide specialized instruction to middle school students with mild intellectual disabilities
- Develop and monitor Individualized Education Plans (IEPs), collaborating with a multi-disciplinary team
- Build supportive relationships with students to encourage social, emotional, and academic growth
- Maintain accurate records and ongoing communication with families and school staff
- Participate in professional development opportunities provided onsite
- Foster a positive, inclusive classroom environment that encourages confidence and growth
