This contract position focuses on leading a self-contained classroom for 4th and 5th grade students, with a class size of 7-8 learners. Key Qualifications and Preferred Experience:
- Valid LBSI (Learning Behavior Specialist I) certification
- Previous experience teaching in a self-contained special education classroom
- Familiarity with Unique Learning System or STAR curriculum highly desired
- Strong communication, collaboration, and behavior management skills
- Ability to create individualized instructional plans and ensure student IEP goals are addressed
- Commitment to fostering an inclusive, supportive learning atmosphere
Position Details and Responsibilities:
- Lead instruction for a self-contained classroom, overseeing academic, social, and emotional development of students in 4th and 5th grade
- Collaborate with specialists, paraprofessionals, and fellow educators in a supportive building environment
- Implement and adapt the Unique or STAR curriculum to meet diverse student needs
- Monitor student progress and maintain accurate documentation to support educational goals
- Work contractual hours: Monday, Tuesday, Thursday, Friday 8:05am-3:35pm, Wednesday 8:05am-3:50pm
- Participate in new teacher orientation (if onboarded by August 5-11) before the official start on August 17, 2026
- Contract runs through May 28, 2027, with standard academic breaks
