Step into a meaningful role supporting middle school learners as a Special Education Teacher across two dynamic campuses just minutes apart. This contract opportunity focuses on co-teaching and leading resource classes for 8th graders, ensuring a supportive and engaging educational experience. Your expertise will be key to helping students thrive in both inclusive and resource settings.
Responsibilities:
- Deliver individualized and small-group instruction for 8th grade students in resource classes (groups of 8-10)
- Collaborate with general education teachers in co-taught classrooms to provide seamless support
- Design and implement IEPs to meet students unique learning needs
- Track student progress, adapting strategies to maximize learning outcomes
- Communicate effectively with students, families, and a multidisciplinary team
- Contribute to a positive, inclusive school climate at both Middle School South and North campuses
- Maintain thorough records and documentation as required
Qualifications:
- Current Illinois Professional Educator License with LBSI endorsement required
- Experience in resource and co-teaching middle school settings highly preferred
- Strong understanding of differentiated instruction and IEP implementation
- Comfortable working independently and traveling between two nearby schools (less than 5 minutes apart)
- Excellent organizational and interpersonal skills
Position Details:
- Contract assignment from August 17, 2026 to May 28, 2027
- Full-time schedule: 7:20 AM2:50 PM (Mon/Tues/Thurs/Fri) and until 3:05 PM on Wednesdays
- 35 hours per week plus a daily 30-minute lunch break
- Participation in new teacher orientation (August 511) encouraged for early hires
