An elementary school in Waukegan, IL is seeking a dedicated Special Education Teacher to support 4th and 5th grade students in a resource classroom setting. This full-time, onsite contract role offers an opportunity to make a meaningful impact on students' academic and social growth during the current school year.
Key Responsibilities:
- Deliver individualized instruction tailored to the unique learning needs of special education students in elementary grades
- Develop and implement IEPs (Individualized Education Programs) in collaboration with families and school staff
- Monitor student progress, maintain accurate records, and communicate regularly with parents and colleagues
- Foster an inclusive environment that encourages student participation and confidence
- Utilize effective strategies and accommodations to promote student success
Qualifications:
- Valid Illinois Special Education (Sp. Ed.) License
- Professional Educator License (PEL)
- Experience working with elementary school students, specifically 4th and 5th grade in resource or special education classrooms is highly preferred
- Strong knowledge of special education laws, regulations, and best practices
