Job Description
This Special Education Teacher opportunity supports K-12 students in a Waterbury, CT school, offering a contract position from ASAP through May 22, 2026. The role requires working onsite 30 to 32.5 hours per week within a supportive educational environment.
Three positions are available to fill specialized roles:
- Elementary Resource
- Elementary Self-Contained
- Middle School Resource
Candidates must hold a current Connecticut Special Education Teacher license and demonstrate expertise in serving students with diverse learning needs.
Key Responsibilities:
- Develop and implement individualized education programs (IEPs) tailored to student needs
- Adapt teaching methods and instructional materials to meet various learning abilities
- Collaborate with general education teachers, parents, and support staff to promote student success
- Monitor student progress and adjust instructional strategies as needed
- Participate in professional development and team meetings to stay current with best practices
Qualifications and Desired Experience:
- Valid Connecticut Special Education Teacher license
- Experience working with K-12 students in resource and self-contained settings preferred
- Strong communication, collaboration, and organizational skills
- Ability to manage classroom dynamics and provide differentiated instruction
