Job Description

A full-time Special Education Teacher position is available to serve students with diverse learning needs in a K-12 school setting near Bridgeport, CT. This contract role offers a comprehensive opportunity to support learners across multiple needs, including self-contained autism programs, resource rooms, and reading specialist services within elementary grades.

Responsibilities:

  • Deliver specialized instructional programs tailored to students with various disabilities, from kindergarten through 12th grade.
  • Develop and implement Individualized Education Programs (IEPs) in collaboration with families, staff, and administrators.
  • Provide direct support in self-contained autism classrooms as well as resource settings.
  • Utilize reading specialist strategies to enhance literacy development among elementary students.
  • Monitor student progress and adjust teaching approaches to maximize educational outcomes.
  • Foster a positive and inclusive classroom environment encouraging social and academic growth.
  • Comply with state and federal special education laws and guidelines.

Qualifications:

  • Valid state certification in Special Education.
  • Experience working with students from K-12, including self-contained autism and resource settings.
  • Skills in reading intervention and literacy support.
  • Strong communication and collaboration abilities.
  • Commitment to individualized student development and inclusive practices.
