Job Description

An opportunity is available for an experienced Elementary Special Education Teacher to support students within a self-contained classroom setting in Clinton Township, MI. This full-time contract position runs immediately through June 11, 2026, with up to 40 hours per week dedicated to creating a nurturing and structured learning environment for up to 15 elementary students.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Deliver specialized instruction to students in a self-contained elementary special education classroom.
  • Manage student behaviors positively and effectively.
  • Assist students with toileting and other personal care needs as required.
  • Collaborate with two paraprofessionals as part of a dedicated support team.
  • Adapt teaching strategies to meet the diverse needs of students with disabilities.

Qualifications and Desired Experience:

  • Bachelors Degree in Education required; Masters or Doctoral Degree in Special Education is preferred.
  • Valid Michigan Teaching Certificate with any Special Education endorsement, including a required valid Special Education (SPED) license (substitute licenses are not accepted).
  • Previous experience working with diverse student populations, especially in special education settings.
  • Strong classroom management skills and the ability to work closely with support staff.
