Make a meaningful impact in the lives of students by supporting their individual learning journeys as a Special Education Teacher. This contract position offers the chance to collaborate with a dedicated team in a private special education school, providing high-quality instruction to a small group of students ages 11-16. With a full-time schedule of 37.5 hours per week, youll enjoy a predictable routine while using your expertise to foster academic and personal growth.
Key Qualifications:
- Valid Connecticut Special Education (SPED) teaching license
- Experience working with students aged 11-16, preferably in a special education or therapeutic school setting
- Strong understanding of individualized education plans (IEPs) and differentiated instruction
- Excellent communication skills for effective collaboration with students, families, and colleagues
- Compassionate, adaptable, and committed to supporting diverse learners
- Ability to implement behavior management strategies and promote a positive classroom environment
Responsibilities:
- Deliver engaging, differentiated lessons tailored to the needs of approximately 7 students
- Develop, implement, and monitor IEPs in collaboration with a multidisciplinary team
- Foster a supportive, inclusive classroom culture that promotes social-emotional and academic growth
- Collaborate with parents and school staff to set goals and track student progress
- Communicate regularly with stakeholders regarding student needs and achievements
- Maintain accurate documentation per school and regulatory guidelines
- Participate in professional development and contribute to school initiatives
