Job Description

This contract position offers the opportunity to work onsite with students in moderate special education programs, particularly those with autism, at both the early elementary (K/1) and middle school levels.

Desired Skills & Qualifications:

  • Special Education (SPED) certification in Louisiana, or a valid LA teaching certificate with a willingness to actively pursue SPED certification.
  • Experience working with students in moderate SPED classrooms, especially those with autism, is highly valued.
  • Ability to effectively manage multiple responsibilities and adapt to varying student needs.
  • Strong communication skills and a collaborative approach to working with colleagues and families.
  • Passion for fostering an inclusive, supportive learning environment.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Provide comprehensive instruction to students in designated special education classrooms.
  • Develop, implement, and adapt Individualized Education Programs (IEPs) tailored to student needs.
  • Collaborate with support staff, administrators, and fellow teachers to share best practices and promote student success.
  • Maintain detailed records of student progress while ensuring compliance with all relevant regulations and policies.
  • Participate in professional development to stay current with the latest strategies in special education.

This contract role offers a consistent weekly schedule of 37.5 hours onsite during the academic year. Openings are available for both early elementary and middle school positions, with multiple vacancies to match your expertise.
