Opportunity for Special Education Teachers (Travel Assignment) Sumter, SC
A full-time travel opportunity is available for experienced Special Education Teachers in Sumter, SC, from November 17, 2025, to May 22, 2026. This role focuses on supporting students in elementary special education programs, including developmentally delayed and mildly intellectually disabled classrooms.
Key Responsibilities:
- Provide specialized instruction and support to elementary students in developmentally delayed (DD) and mild intellectual disability (MIMD) programs.
- Manage and deescalate challenging behavior within the classroom to maintain a positive learning environment.
- Collaborate with general education teachers in Professional Learning Communities (PLCs) twice weekly to align instructional strategies and support.
- Develop and implement Individualized Education Plans (IEPs) in compliance with education standards.
- Participate in monthly meetings with Special Education program directors to discuss student progress and program goals.
- Work closely with paraprofessionals assigned to support classrooms.
- Ensure adherence to educational plans promoting student growth and achievement.
Qualifications:
- Active South Carolina Teaching Certificate with the multi-categorical endorsement.
- Experience working in special education classrooms serving students with mild to moderate disabilities.
- Strong classroom management skills, especially in behavior support and intervention.
- Ability to collaborate effectively with both special and general education staff.
- Commitment to student-centered education and individualized instruction.
Location and Schedule:
- Position based onsite in Sumter, SC.
- Full-time schedule at 37.5 hours per week.
- Elementary school setting.
