Looking for a highly motivated professional to positively impact students lives while working alongside a supportive special education team. This opportunity spans the academic year, focused on elementary-aged students with a range of developmental and mild intellectual disabilities. Youll be someone who thrives in dynamic environments and has a clear commitment to inclusive education.
Key Qualifications:
- Current South Carolina teaching certificate with multi-categorical endorsement
- Experience in special education classrooms, especially with developmentally delayed or mildly mentally disabled students
- Excellent classroom management skills; confident handling and de-escalating behaviors
- Strong collaboration skills for working with general education teachers, paraprofessionals, and program directors
- Proficient in writing and implementing IEPs, especially within ED plans
Your Role Will Include:
- Leading a class of 10 students (grades 35) in a mild intellectual disability (MIMD) program supported by a dedicated paraprofessional
- Managing daily instruction, differentiated learning plans, and positive behavioral support strategies
- Collaborating in Professional Learning Communities (PLCs) with K5th grade general education teachers twice weekly to promote inclusion and best practices
- Attending monthly meetings with SPED program directors to align efforts and ensure quality programming
- Contributing to a network of special education classes and providing expertise as needed for DDK and MOD classrooms
- Ensuring compliance with all IEP documentation and state/federal guidelines
