Job Description

Responsibilities:

  • Develop, implement, and monitor individualized education programs (IEPs) for students in self-contained classrooms.
  • Collaborate with paraprofessional staff to ensure a comprehensive support system for each student.
  • Create a structured and nurturing classroom environment conducive to learning.
  • Communicate effectively with students, parents, and staff regarding student progress and needs.
  • Adapt instructional materials and teaching methods to meet varying levels of student abilities.
  • Maintain accurate documentation and records of student performance and IEP progress.
  • Participate in staff meetings, professional development, and relevant training sessions.

Qualifications:

  • Valid Special Education Teaching License for Virginia.
  • Experience working with elementary-aged students, particularly in self-contained classroom settings.
  • Strong organizational skills and the ability to manage multiple priorities effectively.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills to engage with students, parents, and staff.
  • Ability to work collaboratively within a team of educators and support staff.
