Job Description

Key Qualifications:

  • Certified as a Special Education Teacher in South Carolina, or in pending status
  • Experience teaching in a self-contained LD (Learning Disabilities) classroom strongly preferred
  • Skilled in developing individualized education plans (IEPs) and implementing evidence-based instructional strategies
  • Ability to foster a supportive, structured educational environment
  • Strong communication and collaboration skills with students, staff, and families
  • Commitment to maintaining compliance with state and federal special education requirements

Responsibilities:

  • Provide direct instruction and support to students with learning disabilities in a self-contained classroom setting
  • Develop and monitor IEPs tailored to each students strengths and needs
  • Differentiate instruction and employ a range of teaching techniques to promote student success
  • Collaborate with general education teachers, therapists, and other professionals
  • Collect data and assess student progress, adjusting strategies as needed
  • Participate in parent meetings, IEP team discussions, and professional development opportunities
  • Ensure all educational and legal documentation is maintained accurately and confidentially
