Key Qualifications:

  • Valid Special Education Teaching License in Rhode Island (mild-moderate or severe certification; MA license also considered)
  • Previous experience working with students with developmental disabilities preferred
  • Commitment to individualized instruction and inclusion principles
  • Collaborative mindset for working closely with teaching assistants and support staff
  • Ability to adapt to new training and integrate feedback

Primary Responsibilities:

  • Develop and implement Individualized Education Programs (IEPs) tailored to elementary-aged students in grades 34
  • Create lesson plans and adapt materials based on varied learning needs
  • Foster a nurturing, safe, and encouraging classroom environment with a strong support staff presence (1:3 ratio)
  • Regularly communicate with families, related service providers, and other school staff
  • Leverage ongoing professional training to enhance instructional practices and student outcomes
