Job Description

An opportunity is available for an experienced Intervention Specialist to support a new hybrid SLD classroom for high school students in Powell, OH. This contract position spans the current school year from September 29th to June 13th, with a weekly schedule of 35 hours. The classroom serves up to 8 students with disabilities that may include Emotional Disturbance (ED) and Intellectual Disabilities (ID).

The ideal candidate will have a background as a paraprofessional or special education teacher, with comfort and experience in developing and writing Individualized Education Programs (IEPs) that comply with Ohio state law. This hybrid unit will require supporting students both in the specialized classroom and as they participate in general education settings. Key responsibilities include assisting with basic reading skills instruction and providing tailored interventions to meet the diverse needs of the caseload.

Qualifications:

  • Experience as an Intervention Specialist, paraprofessional, or special education teacher
  • Ability to write and implement compliant IEPs specific to Ohio regulations
  • Desired license: moderate to severe disabilities endorsement preferred, but other relevant certifications will be considered
  • Familiarity with educating students with Emotional Disturbance and Intellectual Disabilities
  • Strong communication and collaboration skills for working with students, educators, and families

Responsibilities:

  • Manage a caseload of up to 8 high school students in a new SLD hybrid classroom
  • Provide individualized reading and academic support aligned with students needs
  • Assist students in accessing general education curriculum where appropriate
  • Ensure compliance with state educational regulations and documentation requirements
  • Participate in team meetings and collaborate on student progress and intervention strategies
