Job Description

This opportunity is for two Special Education teaching roles located at an elementary school in Poland, ME, offered as a full-time contract position for the current school year. Both roles focus on delivering specialized support within the special education program, enhancing student learning and development through dedicated caseload management.

Key responsibilities include:

  • Serving as the 3rd grade special education case manager, overseeing a caseload of 12 students and collaborating with two support staff members.
  • Acting as the Life Skills teacher and case manager for a small group of 6 students, providing tailored educational strategies to meet diverse learning needs.
  • Developing and implementing individualized education plans (IEPs) in alignment with state guidelines.
  • Coordinating with general education staff and families to ensure cohesive support for student progress.
  • Maintaining accurate documentation and records of student performance and program outcomes.
  • Participating in team meetings and professional development activities to enhance instructional methods.

Qualifications and experience:

  • Valid Special Education Teaching Certification for the state of Maine.
  • Experience working with elementary-aged students in special education settings.
  • Ability to manage multiple caseloads effectively and collaborate within a multidisciplinary team.
  • Strong communication and organizational skills to coordinate with staff, families, and external resources.

Location and schedule:

  • Work will be onsite at the elementary school in Poland, ME.
  • Full-time commitment at 37.5 hours per week for the duration of the current school year contract.
