Job Description

This opportunity is for a Special Education Teacher serving students with autism in a K-12 school setting located in Pawtucket, RI. The position is a contract role for the current school year (CSY), with a caseload of approximately 10 students. This role offers a structured schedule of 37.5 hours per week across 5 days, supporting individualized education plans and fostering an inclusive learning environment.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Develop and implement specialized instructional plans tailored to meet the diverse needs of students with autism
  • Monitor and document student progress, adapting teaching strategies as needed
  • Collaborate with multidisciplinary teams, including therapists and parents, to support student development
  • Maintain accurate records in compliance with state education standards
  • Facilitate social, communication, and behavioral interventions to enhance student engagement
  • Provide a safe and positive classroom environment conducive to learning and growth

Qualifications and Experience:

  • Current Rhode Island Teaching Certification in Exceptional Student Education (ESE)
  • Experience teaching K-12 students with autism or related developmental disabilities
  • Strong knowledge of evidence-based special education practices and individualized instruction
  • Effective communication and collaboration skills to work with educators, families, and support staff
  • Ability to manage a caseload of approximately 10 students with varying needs
