Job Description
This opportunity seeks Special Education Teachers for the 2025-2026 school year in a K-12 public school setting located in Paterson, NJ. These are contract positions running from ASAP through June 2026, designed to support a diverse population of students with disabilities across elementary, middle, and high school levels. Behavior needs may vary by classroom.
Available positions include:
- Preschool Disabled Teacher
- Five Learning Disabilities Elementary Teachers (Grades K, 1st, 2nd, 3rd, 5th)
- Five Elementary Autism Teachers (ages 6-8)
- One Elementary Autism Teacher (ages 8-10)
- One Elementary Behavioral Disability Teacher (Grades K-2)
- One Middle School Multiple Disabilities (MCI) Teacher (TOH/K-8 or subject certification with Students with Disabilities)
- One Middle School Autism Teacher (TOH/K-8 or subject certifications with Students with Disabilities)
- Two Middle School ELA Learning Disabilities Teachers
- One Middle School Social Studies Learning Disabilities Teacher
- One Middle School Science Learning Disabilities Teacher
- One Middle School Learning Disabilities Teacher (K-6 with Students with Disabilities certification)
- One High School Autism Teacher (TOH or subject with Students with Disabilities certifications)
- One High School ELA Learning Disabilities Teacher
- One High School Math Learning Disabilities Teacher
- One High School ELA MCI Teacher
- One High School Science MCI Teacher
Key Responsibilities:
- Deliver individualized instruction tailored to students unique learning needs and challenges
- Develop and implement IEPs in collaboration with multidisciplinary teams
- Utilize evidence-based strategies to support academic and behavioral growth
- Maintain detailed records of student progress and communicate with families and staff regularly
- Foster a positive, inclusive classroom environment
Qualifications:
- Valid Special Education teaching certification appropriate to the grade band and disability category
- Experience working with children with disabilities, including Autism Spectrum Disorder, Behavioral Disabilities, and Multiple Disabilities
- Strong classroom management skills and ability to handle varying student behaviors
- Excellent communication and teamwork abilities
