Make a meaningful impact in the lives of young learners as a Special Education Teacher in a supportive K-5 environment. This full-time, onsite opportunity calls for passionate professionals ready to work in substantially separate classrooms designed for students with significant cognitive and physical disabilities. You'll collaborate with a multidisciplinary team, teaching either a K-1st grade or a 3rd-5th grade classroom, supporting students with diverse abilities and communication needs. Some students benefit from RBT support, and all require a dedicated educator committed to providing specially designed instruction and individualized learning plans.
Desired Skills & Experience:
- Valid Special Education Teaching certification
- Previous experience in substantially separate or self-contained classrooms
- Experience with severe/profound disabilities, including cognitive and physical challenges
- Applied Behavior Analysis (ABA) knowledge and experience, preferred
- Familiarity with supporting non-verbal students and those on the autism spectrum
- Comfortable assisting with toileting and personal care needs
- Ability to work collaboratively with paraprofessionals, RBTs, and related service providers
Your Responsibilities:
- Develop and implement individualized education programs (IEPs) in accordance with student needs
- Design and deliver specially tailored instruction to foster academic and functional growth
- Utilize ABA strategies and evidence-based practices to support student success
- Adapt curriculum and teaching methods based on each students abilities and needs
- Monitor student progress, collect data, and report outcomes as required
- Foster a positive, inclusive, and respectful classroom environment
- Communicate regularly with families and other team members
