Step into a rewarding opportunity supporting elementary students in a Social Emotional Behavioral Classroom for grades 3-5. This full-time contract assignment runs from September 1 to October 30, with the possibility of extension. Youll work at a single campus, focusing on building positive relationships and fostering student growth in a supportive, specialized environment.
Key Qualifications & Experience:
- Connecticut Special Education (CT SPED) certification required
- Experience with students exhibiting social, emotional, and behavioral challenges preferred
- Strong classroom management and de-escalation skills
- Ability to collaborate effectively with multidisciplinary teams and families
- Patience, empathy, and a commitment to inclusive education practices
Responsibilities:
- Develop and implement individualized education plans (IEPs) tailored to student needs in grades 3-5
- Deliver specialized instruction and behavioral supports in a Social Emotional Behavioral Classroom
- Monitor student progress, adapting strategies as necessary for academic and behavioral success
- Partner with school staff, support personnel, and families to ensure a cohesive approach to student development
- Foster a safe, welcoming space that encourages student self-regulation and resilience
- Maintain thorough records and uphold all state and district compliance standards
