Job Description

An immediate need exists for a full-time Special Education Teacher skilled in supporting K-4 elementary students within a K-12 school setting. This contract position starts as soon as possible and continues through the end of the school year. The role is based in Benton, IL, serving one school.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Deliver individualized instructional support tailored to the academic, social, and behavioral needs of students with special education requirements.
  • Collaborate with paraprofessionals and support staff for effective classroom management and student supervision.
  • Develop and implement Individualized Education Programs (IEPs) in compliance with Illinois state standards.
  • Monitor student progress and adjust teaching strategies to ensure educational goals are met.
  • Participate actively in multidisciplinary meetings and professional development opportunities.
  • Maintain accurate records of student performance and communicate with families and educational team members.

Qualifications & Experience:

  • Valid Illinois Professional Educator License (PEL) in Special Education.
  • Proven experience working with K-4 elementary-aged students in special education settings.
  • Ability to collaborate closely with paraprofessionals, including paraeducators, Registered Behavior Technicians (RBTs), Certified Nursing Assistants (CNAs), or Licensed Practical Nurses (LPNs).
  • Strong communication and organizational skills.
  • Comfortable participating in panel-style interviews conducted via Zoom.

Compensation and Benefits:

  • This is a full-time contract position for the current school year.
  • Direct supervision and support are provided by the district staff assigned.
