Job Description

A full-time Special Education Teacher opportunity is available at an elementary school in Muleshoe, TX for the current school year. This contract position involves working a 37.5-hour week within an autism classroom, supporting students with both verbal and non-verbal communication needs. The role focuses on delivering tailored instruction and individualized support to a caseload of elementary students with autism.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Develop and implement specialized lesson plans that address the learning and behavioral needs of students with autism
  • Utilize evidence-based strategies to support communication, social skills, and academic growth for verbal and non-verbal learners
  • Monitor student progress, update individualized education programs (IEPs), and collaborate with multidisciplinary teams to ensure goals are met
  • Foster a positive, inclusive classroom environment that promotes student engagement and independence
  • Communicate regularly with families and provide updates on student development and classroom activities

Qualifications:

  • Valid Texas Special Education teaching license is required
  • Experience working in an elementary special education setting, preferably with autism

  • Excellent communication and organizational skills
