An opportunity is available for a full-time Special Education Teacher to provide specialized instruction and support to elementary students in a contract position for the current school year. This role is based in Middletown, CT, within an elementary school setting serving students requiring individualized educational plans.
Responsibilities include developing, implementing, and monitoring individualized education programs (IEPs) tailored to students' unique needs, collaborating with general education teachers and support staff, managing caseloads efficiently, and maintaining accurate records of student progress. The position requires a commitment to fostering an inclusive classroom environment and supporting social, emotional, and academic growth.
Qualifications and Experience:
- Connecticut Special Education (SPED) licensure is required
- Prior experience working with elementary-aged students in a special education setting is preferred
- Strong knowledge of state and federal special education laws and best practices
- Ability to effectively communicate with students, families, and multidisciplinary teams
- Demonstrated skills in classroom management and differentiated instruction
