Job Description

A school district in Kansas City, KS is seeking qualified Special Education Teachers to support K-12 students in both resource and self-contained classroom settings. This contract role runs through the current school year with an immediate start and extends through May 22, 2026. Multiple vacancies are available across diverse school locations.

Positions available include:

  • Life Skills Teachers (Caruthers Elementary 2; Frances Willard 1; Silver City 1)
  • Autism Teacher (Douglas Elementary 1)
  • Self-Contained Classroom (SLC) Teachers (Lowell Brune 1; New Chelsea 1; Stony Point South 1; Welborn Elementary 1; Argentine 1; Central 1; Eisenhower 1)
  • Medically Fragile Teachers (Frances Willard 1; Silver City 1)
  • SAILS Teacher (Silver City 1)
  • Behavior Support Classroom (BSC) Teacher (Arrowhead 1)

Caseload sizes typically range from 8 to 18 students.

Qualifications and Experience:

  • Active Kansas teaching licensure in Special Education required
  • Experience teaching special education across various disabilities and classroom settings (resource, self-contained, life skills, autism spectrum, medically fragile, behavior support)
  • Ability to manage caseloads and tailor instructional strategies to individual student needs
  • Strong communication and collaboration skills to work effectively with students, families, and multidisciplinary teams

Responsibilities:

  • Implement individualized education plans (IEPs) for students K-12
  • Deliver specialized instruction in accordance with state and federal regulations
  • Monitor student progress and adjust teaching techniques accordingly
  • Collaborate with staff and families to support student success
