Job Description

A full-time Special Education Teacher position is available for the current school year, serving students in grades 5 through 12. This 37.5 hours per week contract role is located in Joliet, IL, providing support to a diverse caseload that includes students with emotional disabilities, PTSD, and intellectual disabilities.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Develop and implement individualized education plans (IEPs) addressing the unique needs of each student.
  • Utilize specialized instructional strategies to support students with emotional, intellectual, and trauma-related disabilities.
  • Collaborate with multidisciplinary teams, including counselors and therapists, to provide comprehensive support.
  • Monitor student progress and adjust teaching methods accordingly to achieve academic and behavioral goals.
  • Maintain detailed documentation and communicate regularly with families and school staff.

Qualifications:

  • LBS1 certification is required.
  • Experience working with students with emotional disabilities, PTSD, and intellectual disabilities.
  • Ability to create a positive, structured learning environment.
  • Strong communication and collaboration skills.
  • Commitment to individualized, student-centered instruction.
