This contract opportunity is ideal for Special Education professionals passionate about working with developmentally delayed and mildly mentally disabled students. Collaborate closely with dedicated educators and paraprofessionals, engage in Professional Learning Communities, and play a key role in shaping positive outcomes for students.
Qualifications & Desired Experience:
- Active SC Teaching Certificate with multi-categorical endorsement (required)
- Proven background as a Special Education Teacher, particularly in elementary settings
- Confidence in managing and de-escalating behavior within classroom environments
- Experience working with IEP processes and ED plans
- Demonstrated ability to collaborate with general education and special education staff
- Strong communication skills and a team-driven approach
- Willingness to work fully onsite throughout the assignment
Responsibilities:
- Provide direct instruction and behavioral support to elementary students in mildly mentally disabled and developmentally delayed programs
- Manage a MIMD class (10 students, grades 35) alongside a classroom paraprofessional
- Participate in monthly SPED program director meetings and bi-weekly PLCs with general education teachers
- Develop, implement, and monitor IEPs in collaboration with a multi-disciplinary team
- Contribute to a positive, supportive, and engaging classroom environment that fosters growth and learning
- Adapt instructional strategies to meet diverse needs and actively support each students success
- Remain flexible and ready to support additional classes as program details are finalized
This full-time role (37.5 hours per week) runs from November 17, 2025, through May 22, 2026, offering a rewarding opportunity to leave a lasting impact on students and the school community.
