Qualifications:

  • Solid foundation in special education principles, practices, and procedures, including the ability to develop and write Individualized Education Programs (IEPs) and implement effective teaching strategies.
  • Experience supporting students with autism or multiple disabilities involving behavioral challenges preferred.
  • Minimum of a bachelors degree, with eligibility for MSDE certification in special education (required); endorsement in Vision (preferred).
  • Familiarity with evidence-based Applied Behavior Analysis, particularly for skill acquisition and behavioral support.

Primary Responsibilities:

  • Deliver direct instruction to students with visual impairments and multiple disabilities in both group and one-on-one settings.
  • Implement and monitor evidence-based behavioral interventions and teaching techniques.
  • Collaborate closely with related service providers, families, and team members to create and revise IEPs that address academic, communication, and behavioral needs.
  • Foster a supportive and inclusive classroom culture that values diversity and individual strengths.
  • Track student progress, maintain accurate records, and consistently communicate with families and staff.
