An opportunity is available for a Special Education Teacher to support an elementary self-contained adaptive classroom in Gainesville, GA. This contract role spans from February 23, 2026, through May 20, 2026, with a commitment of 37.5 hours per week onsite.
This position requires experience working with students who exhibit challenging behaviors, as the classroom setting will involve behavior management responsibilities. Candidates must be willing to participate in restraint training and apply restraint techniques when necessary, ensuring the safety and well-being of all students.
Qualifications and Experience:
- Active Georgia Professional Standards Commission (GaPSC) teaching license.
- Proven experience managing and teaching in behavior-focused special education settings.
- Ability to design and implement individualized education plans (IEPs) for students with diverse learning needs.
- Strong classroom management skills, especially in self-contained adaptive classrooms.
- Commitment to professional conduct and collaboration with school staff and families.
Responsibilities:
- Deliver specialized instruction tailored to the individual needs of students with disabilities.
- Maintain a safe, supportive, and structured learning environment.
- Implement behavior intervention plans and interventions consistent with the classrooms behavioral challenges.
- Engage in ongoing communication with administration, parents, and support personnel regarding student progress.
- Adhere to all school policies, including those related to safety and student restraint procedures.
