Job Description

A full-time Special Education Teacher role is available for middle school students (grades 6-8) with moderate to severe needs in Fremont, CA. This position focuses on providing individualized support to a caseload of up to 11 students, addressing academic and social development through direct instruction and case management. The role includes teaching one period each of reading and math, along with push-in support within the general education classroom setting.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Deliver specialized instruction in reading and math tailored to students with extensive support needs
  • Manage a caseload of up to 11 students, ensuring individualized education plan (IEP) goals are effectively implemented
  • Provide push-in support and collaborate with general education teachers to support inclusive learning environments
  • Maintain thorough documentation and progress reports in compliance with state and district guidelines
  • Participate in team meetings and communicate regularly with families and school staff to support student success

Qualifications and Experience:

  • Valid California Special Education teaching credential, with preference for Moderate/Severe endorsement; Mild/Moderate credential holders may also be considered
  • Experience working with students with moderate to severe disabilities, preferably in a middle school setting
  • Strong understanding of Individualized Education Programs (IEP) and special education best practices
  • Ability to collaborate effectively with multidisciplinary teams and adapt instruction to diverse learning needs

Location & Schedule:

  • Onsite position in Fremont, CA
  • Full-time, 40 hours per week during the 20252026 school year
