Step into an impactful role guiding students towards social-emotional and behavioral growth across K-12 settings. This contract opportunity offers the chance to work onsite as an itinerant Behavioral Specialist, providing crucial support to schools in and around Emporia, KS. You'll serve as an integral member of multidisciplinary teams, collaborating closely with educators, families, and staff to promote positive student outcomes.
Key Qualifications & Experience:
- Bachelors degree from an accredited institution required
- Valid Kansas State Teaching License with appropriate endorsement
- Prior experience as a school-based behavior specialist, BCBA, or in a similar capacity strongly preferred
- Experience conducting Functional Behavioral Assessments (FBAs) and developing Behavior Intervention Plans (BIPs)
- Demonstrated expertise supporting students with behavioral and social-emotional needs
- Skilled in implementing evidence-based, data-driven interventions and tracking progress
- Ability to coach, train, and consult with school teams and staff
- Comfortable providing support during crisis situations
- Additional licensure in school psychology, social work, or counseling is a plus
Responsibilities:
- Travel among multiple districts as an itinerant specialist to support students and staff
- Conduct comprehensive FBAs and collaborate on effective, individualized BIPs
- Provide direct and consultative behavioral support for students in K-12 classrooms
- Lead professional development sessions and behavior coaching for school personnel
- Work closely with families, educators, and support staff to create cohesive plans for student success
- Utilize current research and best practices to guide intervention strategies
- Assist with crisis intervention and help foster safe, supportive school environments
