A Special Education Teacher position is available for an 8th-grade middle school setting in Elkhart, IN, offering an opportunity to provide inclusive special education services to a diverse caseload of 24 students representing all disability categories. This contract role covers the full school year and involves a structured schedule facilitating collaboration and comprehensive student support.

Key Responsibilities:

• Deliver tailored instruction to an 8th-grade caseload of 24 students with various disabilities
• Implement inclusive teaching strategies within the general education environment
• Develop, write, and manage Individualized Education Programs (IEPs), with a portion of the caseload's IEPs already conferenced
• Collaborate with multidisciplinary teams, families, and support staff to maximize student success
• Maintain accurate records and progress reports in compliance with regulatory standards
• Adapt learning materials and methods to meet the unique needs of each student

Qualifications and Experience:

• Certification in Special Education
• Experience working with middle school students across a broad range of disabilities
• Proficiency in IEP development and execution
• Strong classroom management and communication skills
• Familiarity with inclusive education practices and compliance requirements

Work Hours and Schedule:

• Contract hours are approximately 8:35 AM to 4:10 PM
• School day hours run from 9:00 AM to 4:00 PM
• Average weekly hours total 37.5
