Job Description

Make a meaningful impact as a Special Education Teacher supporting middle school students in a welcoming district near Elgin, IL. This contract opportunity involves working half-days at two nearby middle school campuses, fostering growth and learning for 8th graders in both co-taught and resource settings. Youll engage with a diverse group of students, collaborate with dedicated colleagues, and help shape a supportive classroom environment.

What youll bring:

  • Illinois-issued LBS1 certification or equivalent
  • Experience teaching special education at the middle school level
  • Proven skill providing resource and co-taught instruction for students with diverse needs
  • Confidence working independently and managing small group supporttypically 8-10 students per resource class
  • Strong collaboration and communication skills
  • Commitment to serve the local community (district will not review travelers)

What youll do:

  • Deliver engaging co-taught and resource classes for 8th grade students across two campuses, just minutes apart
  • Develop and implement individualized education plans (IEPs) to meet student goals
  • Promote a positive, inclusive classroom atmosphere that empowers learners
  • Assess student progress and adjust instruction as needed
  • Partner with general education teachers and other staff to deliver comprehensive support
  • Participate in IEP meetings, parent communications, and professional development

Additional Details:

  • Contract runs from August 17, 2026, through May 28, 2027 (with potential orientation between August 5-11)
  • Schedule: Monday, Tuesday, Thursday, Friday 7:20 AM - 2:50 PM; Wednesday 7:20 AM - 3:05 PM
  • 35 hours per week, plus a 30-minute lunch break each day
