Located in Elgin, IL, an elementary school is seeking a dedicated Special Education Teacher for a full-time, contract position for the upcoming school year.
This role involves managing a self-contained, cross-categorical classroom with a caseload of 10-12 students. The teacher will develop and implement individualized education plans (IEPs) tailored to each student's unique needs, fostering an inclusive learning environment that promotes academic and social growth.
Key Responsibilities:
- Develop, implement, and evaluate individualized education plans for students with diverse learning needs.
- Provide targeted instruction and support within a self-contained classroom setting.
- Collaborate with general education teachers, support staff, and families to enhance student progress.
- Monitor student performance, maintain accurate records, and adjust instructional strategies accordingly.
- Participate in professional development opportunities and utilize mentorship resources to continually improve instructional practices.
Qualifications:
- Valid Special Education teaching certification.
- Experience working with elementary-aged students in a self-contained, cross-categorical classroom setting.
- Strong knowledge of special education laws, regulations, and best practices.
- Excellent communication and collaboration skills.
- Ability to create a positive, supportive, and engaging classroom environment.
