Job Description
An elementary school in Elgin, IL is seeking a full-time Special Education Teacher to support students in a 4th/5th grade resource classroom. This is a contracted position starting ASAP and running through May 29, 2026, with typical hours ranging from 35 to 37.5 per week. The role offers the opportunity to serve as a vital member of the special education team, delivering tailored instruction and support to students with diverse learning needs.
Key responsibilities include:
- Planning and implementing individualized education programs (IEPs) aligned with student needs and state guidelines
- Creating a supportive and inclusive classroom environment for students in 4th and 5th grades
- Collaborating with general education teachers, parents, and other specialists to promote student success
- Monitoring and assessing student progress and adjusting instruction accordingly
- Maintaining detailed and accurate records in compliance with state requirements
Qualifications and experience:
- Active Special Education Illinois teaching license
- Professional Educator License (PEL)
- Prior experience working in a school setting, specifically with elementary-aged students, is required
- Strong classroom management skills and ability to effectively engage students with varied learning abilities
