Job Description

A full-time position is available for a high school transition special education teacher dedicated to supporting students as they prepare for life beyond the classroom. This role focuses on delivering tailored educational plans that promote independence, vocational skills, and successful integration into post-secondary environments or the workforce.

Location: Elgin, IL

Responsibilities:

  • Develop and implement individualized education programs (IEPs) that address transitional needs of high school students with special education requirements.
  • Collaborate with students, families, and multidisciplinary teams to create goals that facilitate smooth transitions into adulthood.
  • Provide instruction in life skills, career readiness, and social development, using evidence-based strategies.
  • Monitor student progress and adjust instruction to meet evolving needs.
  • Coordinate community resources and services to support students post-secondary plans.
  • Maintain thorough documentation and compliance with educational regulations.

Qualifications and Experience:

  • Valid teaching certification in Special Education.
  • Experience working with high school students with diverse learning needs, particularly in transition planning.
  • Strong understanding of transition-related educational practices and vocational training.
  • Excellent communication and collaboration skills.
  • Ability to manage multiple priorities in a dynamic educational environment.
