Job Description

Make a meaningful impact supporting high school students as a Special Education Teacher in a dynamic contract position. This opportunity allows you to focus on a manageable caseload of 10-15 students in a resource room setting at one high school location, providing individualized instruction and fostering student growth. The onsite role spans the academic year starting August 2027, with a consistent 40 hours per week.

Key Qualifications:

  • Current MD certification as a Special Education Teacher
  • Experience working with high school-aged students preferred
  • Strong communication skills to collaborate with students, families, and multidisciplinary teams
  • Ability to adapt instructional strategies to meet diverse learning needs
  • Commitment to promoting a supportive and inclusive classroom environment

Responsibilities:

  • Deliver direct special education services to a caseload of 10-15 high school students, adjusting as student needs change
  • Develop, implement, and track Individualized Education Programs (IEPs)
  • Collaborate with general education teachers, administrators, and families to ensure all students receive an equitable education
  • Utilize a variety of instructional techniques to ensure understanding and skill acquisition
  • Monitor, assess, and document student progress toward IEP goals
  • Participate in professional development and team meetings
  • Maintain accurate records and adhere to all state, district, and federal guidelines
