Job Description

This contract position offers the opportunity to provide essential support as a Special Education Teacher within an elementary or middle school classroom setting, focusing on Autistic Support and Life Skills. Located onsite in Detroit, MI, the role requires a commitment of 35-40 hours per week over the course of the school year (CSY).

Responsibilities include designing and implementing individualized education programs (IEPs) tailored to students with developmental disabilities, collaborating with colleagues and families, and maintaining a nurturing, inclusive learning environment. The role demands a strong understanding of special education strategies and the ability to adapt teaching methods to meet diverse learner needs.

Qualifications:

  • Valid Pennsylvania Special Education Teacher Certification is mandatory
  • Experience working with elementary or middle school students, particularly in Autistic Support or Life Skills programs
  • Ability to manage caseloads effectively while fostering student growth and development
