Job Description

A full-time Special Education Teacher position is available in an elementary school setting located in Des Plaines, IL. This contract role runs from ASAP through May 29, 2026, with a weekly schedule of 35 to 37.5 hours. The successful candidate will manage a caseload of one resource classroom serving 4th and 5th grade students.

Key responsibilities include delivering specialized instructional support tailored to meet the diverse learning needs of students with disabilities. The teacher will collaborate with general education staff, develop Individualized Education Programs (IEPs), and monitor student progress to ensure compliance with state guidelines and foster academic growth.

Qualifications and desired experience:

  • Active Illinois Special Education license and Professional Educator License (PEL)
  • Previous experience working in a school environment, particularly with elementary-age students
  • Strong ability to create effective, individualized instructional strategies
  • Proficient in managing resource classrooms and collaborating with school teams
  • Excellent communication and organizational skills
