Job Description

Step into a rewarding opportunity supporting students with autism as a Special Education Teacher on contract for the new school year. This role will primarily serve middle and high school students in a dedicated, center-based program. Youll provide crucial support during a maternity leave, helping to maintain continuity, structure, and positive learning outcomes.

What Were Looking For:

  • Valid Michigan Special Education Teacher Certification
  • Special Education Endorsement in Autism Spectrum Disorder (SV required)
  • Completion of all state certification requirements (MCL 380.1531 and Michigan Administrative Rules)
  • Experience with students on the autism spectrum, including comfort with mild to severe behaviors
  • Background in center-based programs strongly preferred
  • Training in START (Statewide Autism Resources & Training) program is a plus
  • Ability to adapt teaching strategies to a range of learner needs and behavioral challenges
  • Strong communication, organization, and collaboration skills
  • Available to work full-time from early September through late October 2026

  • Deliver specialized instruction to middle and high school students in autism programs
  • Implement and adapt IEP goals to individual student needs
  • Foster a supportive classroom environment while managing diverse behavioral profiles
  • Collaborate closely with support staff, related service providers, and families
  • Maintain all required documentation and progress monitoring
  • Provide continuity of care and support throughout the assignment
